Places of Commemoration

These places of commemoration show how we remember and celebrate the lives and achievements of individual prime ministers. The places include graves, memorials, and avenues of honour dedicated to former prime ministers, and include places of remembrance such as Cheviot Beach, the place where Harold Holt disappeared whilst swimming, and King’s Hall at Old Parliament House where former prime ministers John Curtin and Ben Chifley lay in state after their deaths to allow the public to pay their respects.
