Elizabeth Anne Reid (b.1942) held office as adviser to Prime Minister Gough Whitlam on the welfare of women and children in 1973-75. Her commitment to the principles of gender and equity informed her efforts in this pioneering role. She later worked, chiefly for the United Nations, on issues concerning gender relations and health, particularly Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome, in developing countries.
